Well, luckily the information we are sending is not millions of bits. I
do not know how many photons you need to actually encode a logical bit
but I guess we are not in the millions. Also, are there actual
implementations that implement QKD and use a single photon to encode a
single state? Even then, you are comparing apples and oranges as you are
talking about the full communication in the one case and a single state
in the other (QKD also needs a classical channel, requires far more than
one state, etc.pp.) [sorry for the nitpicking]
