Dear all,
Following our discussions, we will request an extension of the Quantum-Safe Internet project for the full seven months, until April 2027.
We will formally submit the request to the EU Project Officer (PO) and we will keep you informed.
This extension will provide additional time to make use of the remaining project funds, including for extending contracts where applicable, supporting secondments, attending conferences and dissemination activities related to the project results, and, importantly, allowing more time for the DCs to complete their work and increase the number of theses submitted within the project.
Thank you all for your input and support.
With best wishes,
Lorena G. Curra

>
> - **DCs who started later:** the extension would allow DCs who joined the project later than initially planned to reach (or come closer to) the full 36 months of employment within the project, where applicable.
>
> - **DCs who started earlier:** the money could be used to extend the contracts of DCs beyond the 36-month limit. During the extension, however, the DCs would not be considered MSCA fellows. This means that it is not mandatory to maintain the same contractual conditions as when they were MSCA fellows, although the PO recommends doing so.

> - **Secondments:** It would provide additional time for DCs to carry out secondments that may not have been possible within the original project timeline.
>
> The drawback is that the final payment for the project would be delayed until the end of the extension period. You should therefore discuss this with your administrative colleagues.
>
> We have agreed to send our reply to the PO by the end of this week. Please reply to this **email by Friday, 11 September**, stating whether you are in favour of the extension or not.
