Asunto: QSI: Doubts regarding Secondments.


Dear all, 


Some of you have asked about the possibility of doing secondments in institutions that do not belong to the consortium.


Essentially, there are the following two issues to be taken into account:

1. If you want to carry out a secondment in a place other than the initial one (but the institution belogs to the consortium), this would be possible as long as the PO is duly notified in advance for approval and is very well justified.


2. If you want to do a secondment in an institution that does not belong to the consortium, this would have to be justified even with more details, convince the PO about its importance, of it would entail a change of the Grant Agreement.


We would strongly prefer to avoid having to modify the GA several times, for this reason, if anyone wishes to make changes to their secondments following point 2 above, please communicate this before June 30th so that this issue can be clarified.

Below, you can see the complete response of the project officer in relation to possible changes in the institutions of the secondments.

Hello,




Dc’s are to go on secondments ONLY in companies/ institutions which are part of the consortium. They cannot carry the secondment in companies which differ from the ones already selected.




There is however some flexibility in case a company is no longer available to host the DC for a secondment, this needs however to be justified since they have committed to it. But if the scientist or supervisor is no longer working there, etc…




New associated partners can be brought into the consortium also prior to an agreement from me, a justification and motivation included. In general this is not ideal but if the justification is scientifically sound and a real added value is shown both for the project of the DC, his career future and the general implementation of the project then, this can be accepted. This however also would entail that an amendment to the grant agreement.




In any case, for all changes in the implementation of the project, the PO should be informed, the DC cannot carry out secondments to companies outside of the consortium and addition of an associated partner is analysed on a case by case study and needs to dully justified.
